A1 Wondering at families
A1.1 Name the different members who belong to their family.
Using the book 'My Place' by Nadine Wheatley, select a few stories to read to the class. Identify with students how each family is different and brainstorm a list of family members. Students complete 'My Family Members' worksheet where they will need to identify their own family members and wonder what they like most about being a member of a family, what they enjoy most about talking to the members of their family and why they think their family is important.

B2 Jesus gave the Church (family of God) out of love
B2.2 Generates examples of how God helps people love others when they don't feel like it.
Teacher reads book 'Have you Filled a Bucket Today?' by Carol McCloud. Class discuss the importance of doing the right thing and being good to one another even when they don't feel like it. Students make their own buckets to display in class and write a special note to a friend to 'fill their bucket'.

C1 God's family prays and celebrates together
C1.2 States what they have seen or heard in sacramental celebrations
Discuss with the students that Jesus gave God's family special celebrations. These are called 'Sacraments'. Ask students to recall any sacrament that they may have seen in their parish or school community. Students then participate in a game of Sacramental Bingo.
